Saint Peter Claver was a Jesuit missionary who attended to the slaves arrival to port and gave them medicines, food, drink and spiritual hope in a desperate time. About 1/3 of the slaves died during the journey and Saint Peter Claver was known to give up his own cloak to clothe them.
